What you get for the money
With 15 options and about a dozen more nearby, you can shop around. The average rating sits at 4.7, which is high for storage. Covered and indoor spots are limited to four each, so if you want your rig out of the sun and hail, call sooner rather than later. Outdoor spaces are the most common and usually the cheapest, but you trade some protection. Ask what the gate hours are and whether the lot is lit at night. Those details matter more than a fancy website.
Reading the reviews
The top facilities here are all Extra Space Storage, and they range from 415 to 1,006 reviews with a 4.9 rating across the board. A big review count with a high score usually means the manager answers the phone and the lot stays clean. One of them lists climate control, which is worth asking about if you store batteries or anything that hates heat. Don't just look at the stars. Read a few recent reviews for mentions of security, access, and how easy it is to get a big rig in and out.
Covered, indoor, or out in the open
Alabama sun is hard on gelcoat, tires, and roof sealant. Covered storage keeps the worst of the UV off without the cost of a building. Indoor storage is the best bet if you want to keep the rig out of hail and rain, but there are only four indoor spots in the list, so availability comes and goes. Outdoor storage works if you keep up with wax and inspect the roof twice a year. No matter which you pick, use a battery maintainer and check your insurance policy covers the rig while it's stored off site.
